    ~4 1/2" diameter, ~2 3/8" rim diameter, ~3 3/8" high; weight ~7 oz.

Acquired in Bishop, California, sometime in the mid '90s. The fellow who sold it to me (for $6) thought it was NA, an' contemporary. Back then I knew no better...I liked it, whatever. Only very recently have I discovered its true nature.
An age estimate, please, if that may be possible based on my pics. Otherwise, your wisdom is earnestly sought about this odd pot.
    Thanks for lookin'!

I really have no idea as to age but it’s a intriguing looking thing. If I had to guess I would have said; Not that old and Maybe a reproduction (but I really don’t know)

Not a clue. But closest Google Images matches are indeed Conibo-Shipibo.

As sis said, Shipibo pottery isn't very old, but it is very appealing.
The designs are very traditional, and can also be seen on Shipibo clothing and houses.
That is about the price I bought mine for in the 1980s. Mine is a face vase with the same colouring and motifs. I also have a bowl with more reddish brown tones.
Such prices were quite normal at the time, because it was simply seen as relatively unknown contemporary pottery from a low wage country. Prices have gone up a lot though.

AJ- I'm beginning to think you may very well have one example of everything (providing it's exquisite !). You must have a house like Dr. Who's Tardis- normal on the outside, endlessly immense inside.

    Endlessly crowded, more like.:playful:
Most of the 'stuff' I buy is small though. But it is everywhere.:D

Oops, a result of endless crowding, I got my Shipibo pottery mixed up. There is the one face vase that I mentioned, but the bowl is the same off-white with black, and there is a small vase that has the reddish brown tones, I had forgotten that one.:shame:

Re: 'endless crowding'-I'm strategizing on how to convince our heirs that they could actually make a few bucks off our quaint treasures to put toward their newest Mercedes SUV,big screen or latest round of gourmand tours.
