Painting signed Martin.

    image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg I came across this today. I thought it was little cool. It's signed Martin and on the reverse, it's written either V. Hilton or U. Hilton, atleast that's what I can make out. Just about an hr from here is Hilton Head. Also, there's writing in pencil on the canvas but can't read it without taking the frame off. I might try to contact some local artist there and see if they know this artist. It looks like watercolor but this is painted on canvas. I wonder if it's a thinner acrylic or oil paint. I can post some closer images.

    If the subject were local, contacting a "local artist" might be successful. But this scene is in a French-speaking location - likely France itself. Still worth a try, but I would think more likely to have been brought back by a tourist.

    I would say it is a town scene in Belgium, Southern Netherlands or Northern France.
    Martin is quite a popular surname in Belgium.

    I really like the painting by the OP. I am very partial to paintings of buildings/homes.
