IMG_3023 (1).JPG IMG_3706.JPG IMG_3027.jpg IMG_3707.JPG I thought I had the silver marks mixed up between 2 items but I was wrong, this is the correct mark in the photos. I'm trying to figure out the maker and if this is sterling or silver plate. Pretty sure this is called a biscuit barrel, and not a tea caddy, am I right? The lid is hinged. I'm having some blood sugar problems today and dealing with brain fog, forgive me.

Okay, I double checked, I do have the right hallmark in the photos, so if you had an answer, much appreciated! I'm having hypogycemia problems and dealing with brain fog.

I'm sorry Jaime, but I don't see a hallmark in any of these images.

What size is it? Measurements would be helpful!
I don't recall seeing a hinged biscuit barrel before but WDIK.
This item is being called acigarette holder and looks similar (but had a broken link):

I don't see a hallmark either, just a design number and a heart. Also insurance numbers from a long time ago. Meaningless now.

    I'm thinking plated.

No question. They'd have marked it otherwise.

Here's one I sold on eb in 2016 by Hukin and Heath. I called it a biscuit jar / biscuit barrel. Sorry you're experiencing brain fade, but maybe later look at the base a second time and look inside the lid for a possible mark. Feel better!

Thanks everyone, I have looked everywhere on this, even with a jewelers loop and no marks, so I'm going with plated. All the ones here in the US are listed mainly as biscuit barrels so I will use that. I thought maybe the heart was some kind of hallmark I didn't know, though seemed a bit basic. It's weird, when I logged onto here yesterday it showed no new alerts so I thought no one had responded, decided to click on the thread and saw all your responses. Thank you all so much!

You won't get alerts for replies unless:
    1. You click "Watch Thread", found on the upper right above the first post.
    -or-
    2. People actually quote you in their replies... like I've just done.

Have you checked your "Preferences" (rather than your "Alert Preferences")? That's where you can decide in what instances you get email notifications, which are different than alerts.

The form is fairly distinctive, it's a biscuit box, almost certainly English electroplate, probably circa 1870s-'80s, the hinged lid not particularly unusual, since no measurement was given, would guess around 6"-7" tall...

This is what I wrote in my listing for size. This Biscuit Barrel measures7 1/2” high and 7” in diameter overall. Just the biscuit barrel is 5 1/4” in diameter and 5” high. The OP's looks to be about the same size.
