Featured Turquoise Questions - Can You Please Help

I have these pieces that I would like to find out about. If you have thoughts, I would appreciate them.

This first necklace is not dyed howlite, because you can see the blue around the holes where the string goes through. They are not cabochons but discs. The only thing close I could find is this Kingman Turquoise Disc & Heishi Necklace Santo Domingo Joe - Etsy Otherwise, I don't have a clue.



The next is a small cuff that only has a Sterling Mark. I couldn't find anything like it.

The ring looks like it has a rectangular mark on the underside image, to the right? Or is that just a metal fineness mark?

The unmarked ring looks typical of older Navajo.

Could be by the same maker, but you may never know for sure. It is certainly Santo Domingo Pueblo style.

It is Zuni Dishta style. Most Dishta pieces aren't marked, so you'll never know for sure if it is by a member of the Dishta family, hence the term Dishta style. They generally used Sleeping Beauty turquoise.

Modernist. Could be Navajo, but again, no certainty. Southwest Modernist is the best term.

Best I can do with what I see, but it does look like a mark in a rectangle.

 

Excellent information. I think the stone is an unusual color. I have a chart somewhere that someone posted about the colors from various turquoise mines.

I am still trying to find that mark. It disappears when I shine light on it. I will try again. I think I will clean it thoroughly and then go for some angles and the photoshop the contrast. Thank you for your effort.

 

It disappeared when I cleaned the ring. It's just some excess solder.

It's cool. It's obviously an old Navajo ring. Not as valuable as signed but still nice.

 

With the damage on the base plate it's not really nice.

When looking at this group of jewelry, the last ring really popped out as being a stand out to my eye. As others have said, a lot of older Navajo was not signed, so we are likely looking at an older piece. It's clearly sterling. Quite attractive.

 

Thank you Lucille. I love the stone and the leaf. I see that in the older designs as well. I had a friend model it, so you can see how big the stone is.

 

It has become a classic Navajo design.
Originally European Art Nouveau, then adopted by the Navajo, and still made to this day.
The leaf can also be be seen as a feather.
