Featured Stone in pendant.... what?

First off, I don't think glass, it's way too random and no bubbles. And it has nicks whihc look stone. But what the heck is it? I think the frame is silver and if only it had an open back!

Looks like glass to me - with glitter in it.

 

Bohemian/Czech glass with mica specks, imo.

 

Obb, do you have Sibylle Jargstorf's "Baubles, Buttons and Beads"? Look up page 144, there are a vase and a brooch with similar glass with mica flecks.

 

It could be glass, but if it is, it’s very very well done.

I can’t remember if I’ve got that. Oops!

I was going to say glass for sure. It's too old for lucite and there's no way that's a rock.

 

Another vote for glass. It's a beautiful color and texture. The metallic bits probably sparkle very nicely too.

 

Similar to Murano with gold/silver flake in it. More than likely glass. Nice setting too.

Beautiful pendant, OBB! I also think Czech glass, I have some similar style pendants, with just the same prongs. And the Czechs are masters of glass jewelry.

 

They are indeed, which is what fooled me to an extent. It was a bargain: the equivalent of two cups of coffee.

 

Not proof by itself, but the closed back is a clue that the 'stone' is man made. When it comes to cameos, I always advise extra scrutiny when evaluating one where the back is closed when it doesn't need to be.
