You are aware that the Fostoria tumblers are color changing right? That color is Fostoria's attempt at matching Heisey Alexandrite glass. Nice find.

Waterford glass for free (I used a big $200 credit) and bought a bunch of things including these. These go directly into my display case to add color.

Found this for a dollar. Greensburg #2 Elephant Ashtray in uranium glass. According to Chataboutdg, these ashtrays were mentioned in Weathermans Book on Depression Glass 2 and Tom Felt's LE Smith Glass Company.

OT maybe, but re BOMA: the company was founded in 1965 by Boris Magreb, an immigrant to British Columbia; originally making resin castings, mostly of totem poles, and later branching out to many other items. The company is now known as Panabo Sales. Their online catalog is still a good resource for identifying cast NW Coast native items. Their insistence on "handcrafted" has always irked me a bit, as many (especially on ebay) interpret the phrase to mean the items are "hand-made" originals rather than products of modern manufacturing.
Johnny's is a nice design though; likely one of their newer items.

For reference only: Panabo Sales |

I only found one other of this ashtray which says it's an Art Deco Fake Malachite from the 1930s.

Had a trip to our local (and almost only) charity shop today. There's not normally anything except for some antique books, but today was better!

This called my name for obvious reasons, stoked to find the set for 2.50!

I couldn't pass this up, Lost Sir Brian by Fred Wishaw, a 1903 edition. The cover is so gorgeous, particularly on the binding.

This isn't my thing usually, but I like this candy dish. I saw it being attributed to Ivima in Portugal, Art Deco period? Its more of a dusty pink than what this picture shows.

The Thor's hammer, which was called Mjolnir, comes in a very wide range of designs and materials. From the very simple blacksmiths ironwork, to the very best quality silversmiths work.

My own favourite, and one which I wear, is a copy of one found at Flossi in Iceland. Some people take it as an upside down cross, which it isn't. The thinking is that after the Vikings became officially Christian, many didn't of course give up the old gods. So they added the bottom bit to a Thors hammer, and that way, they could worship God officially when on land, but worship the old Gods when they were at sea, where it really mattered to them!

Copy of the Icelandic Thor's hammer.....

The three examples above are all copied from originals.

I like the blacksmith one - odd for a joolie, but it's the honest piece that looks how it was meant to look.

Thanksgiving road trip to Joshua Tree Nat'l Park in Southern California. Found these two Navajo weavings, which pair nicely with another one I brought with me, and which I figured I'd photograph outside:

Also, we saw this tarantula--for real!!-- while hiking in the desert:

Finally got around to photographing some things. All purchased in the last 10 days at various thrift stores.

This 2 gal. crock was the most expensive item at $10.00. Great condition.

I guess this is a little mustard pot. Cut glass with silverplate (?) top. Polished up nicely except inside where there is some dark corrosion. No marks. About 4" tall. Bought for $2.00
    thriftglass12.jpg

Set of 8 of these champagne flutes with platinum rims. Look like they have never been used. I assume these are modern but have not attempted to identify them yet. Bought for $4.00.
    thriftglass14.jpg

Picked up both of these toys at the same tme for $5.00 each. Neither have any marks. Have not researched yet.

Seems to be a glass spree of late. This is unmarked but likely Stromberg. 5 1/4" tall and quite heavy. Bought for $5.00.

Assume these are bohemian. Please correct me if you know better. Set of 6 for $3.00.

Will continue in the next post.....
