Found this W&D purse a couple of weeks ago, older I think than what I usually see. I'm thinking late 1940s based on the Deco frame and the mark:



Today I went to a sale, they had lots of stuff and said they have a lot more they couldn't fit out. So I am going back tomorrow and maybe Monday to see what else goes out.

I'm going to put some photos in their own thread but...whoooooooo. Went to an estate sale but wasn't too hopeful. The jewelry I knew about was a few quartz watches. Worth 10 cents per pound in scrap weight. On a table sat an unremarked bird. Nabbed that and left the basalt Wedgwood and pretty unsigned glass bits with stupid prices on them. Upstairs was a sideboard the guy there after porcelain had completely ignored. I didn't and... spent $80 total including sterling serving pieces and some with Russian hallmarks. Got into the kitchen and saw a box of flatware ...saw forks with sterling marks. How much did they want for the box? How's $30...couldn't say SOLD fast enough! It was a service for six and weighed so much I couldn't lift the box. Just in time too - a woman I know wanted to know about it before we could move it to the checkout table across the small kitchen.

The birdie? Iittala glass Oiva Toikka designer, Nuutajarui or close enough. No idea of the retail, but the only other identical one I could find for sale was priced at $350.

I have a lot of little things to photograph. Went to a school-sponsored flea market and antique/craft show yesterday. The flea market was hilarious- let's just say Macys retail was cheaper, but I did get 3 Annalees for 50 cents each (everybody else wanted $30 each or more) and a bit of jewelry. One lady tried to sell Christmas wrapping paper for $3 a roll.

Friday was a much better day. Not much until I stopped at a little church thrift 30 minutes before closing. Saw this jewelry on the shelf...pins $1, earrings, bracelets, and necklaces, $2. Total cost (they like me so cut me a deal), $15. I had no idea about the designer, NY designer Julie Vos, until I looked her up at home. Her jewelry is 24 kt gold plated, she uses gemstones and glass.

Forgot these, also Friday. Stopped at a thrift I usually avoid due to stupidly high prices. They had a ton of these MMA silverplated snowflake ornaments for $6 each, but missed the 4 sterling ones in the lot, one gold plated. I debated getting the silverplated ones, just took pne because it was pretty.

 

Have had another good week of picking here. No chance to photograph everything yet but here is a little taste.

This 1941 W Liberty half dollar has been altered as shown and was in the cheapest of cheap money clip carrier. Shouldn't be too difficult to remove the acrylic coating. Unfortunately, my sister in her zeal to remove the coin, nicked the edge just to the right of the date. Not the end of the world since this was not a pristine example to begin with. Just hate to have that happen and she should have known better. Bought for $3.00 at the thrift store.


Best find of the week are these George Jensen #49 clip-on earrings. I am astonished at the prices I am seeing being asked for these. Have not found another pair of clip-ons but do think it is their original configuration. Bought for 99 cents at the thrift store
