Is this Bed Frame an Antique?

How much do you think it’s worth with the damages/wear?

 

I'm thinking possibly Empire....1800-1815, plain lines, dark wood, some embellishment on the feet........but I could also be wrong... @verybrad, @Ghopper1924?? Hang on, others will chime in!!!

 

I think more Empire Revival Acquitane. 1880 give or take a decade.But i could be wrong too!

 

Empire revival with a nod to the Victorian era with that carved crest. Circa 1905. Not a lot of value. Can buy beds from this era under $100.00 all the time

 

Even less if they're 3/4 beds rather than a current mattress size. No one collects beds; they buy them to use or mess with.

 

As noted above, Empire Revival ca. 1900-1910 with a bit of Renaissance Revival as well. if a 3/4 bed then virtually worthless, since a new mattress will have to be obtained (purchased) to make the frame usable. Whatever value the frame would have would be negated by constructing a new mattress set, since 3/4 is not standard. Heck, even full mattresses are becoming harder and harder to find.

Too bad, since the mahogany veneer, chipped as it may be, is quite attractive.

 

What size mattress would it take? Would a twin mattress fit?

 

You can buy those foam mattresses cut to size,and they are really quite comfortable.
