This helps with the makers mark and the Assay office.
The photo of the hallmark they were trying to ID was so fuzzy it wasn’t worth adding here. Just ignore the bit about their date letter and the 585 as it doesn’t apply to yours.
    C is 1988 I think.

I too have been trying to find the origin of the ASC hallmark, which led me to the Reddit screenshot above and then to here.
It's not SAC, their hallmark is clearly "SAC", I'll attach a screen example of SAC.
The ASC that you (and I) are looking for information about is a completely different hallmark but I'm still not sure where it's from. I'm relatively sure the piece that I have was made in Dublin in 1999.[IMG] [IMG]

I think I found the Reddit post where someone identified it as Hammond Creake. I'm wondering if they got that right. Where I've looked it has Hammond Creake in Sheffield not Dublin and earlier than 1988, maybe ending in the 1930s?

This was on a gold ring and the SAC trefoil does look the same but I'm wondering if the ID was wrong. I don't know.

I too have an ASC pendant whose maker I cannot determine. My date mark is a "J" in an octagon, 1996 (but there is an inscribed date of 10-2-46 (sic) on the back!!) See first two photos below. (If anyone knows what those symbols refer to on the reverse of the pendant, please let me know.)

The SAC, Saint Arnaud Creake, mark looks like my 3rd photo below (and the assay city is Sheffield):

The writing on the front of the pendant above the date is Ogham, Medieval "lettering" used for ancient Irish language. That being said, I don't know what it says. The concentric circles are an ancient Irish thing as I recall.

Thank you! I had no idea about that language. Now I need to get it translated.

Sterling Ingot Ogham & Newgrange Spiral Pendant 1 15/16" Long Signed ASC "Ann" During the British occupation of Ireland, some of the local Irish devised a coded written language known as Ogham. It was read from bottom to top with each combination of lines representing a different letter. This Ogham ID pendant reads, "Ann". It also has the Newgrange Spiral, an ancient mass of land shape with the spiral look. .....

I figured it out. Mine says "DARLENE".
You can go to https://ogham.co/ then type in the alphabet instead of a word, and you will then see the letters. It's read from the bottom to the top.
