    Hi Everyone,

Is anyone able to identify the origin of this bowl? It measures 3.5” tall x 5.5”wide.

    TIA,
    Biju

Biju-Members will want to know the provenance of these items, and most likely they'll need to be seen by an expert (or several) in person,to get an initial assessment of authenticity & age.

This bowl, along with the others in my other two threads, were acquired from an estate of a tribal arts collector that included both Native American as well as other tribal artifacts.

All of these certainly look old...

This one, though, does not seem to have enough wear on the bottom to be centuries old. Of course someone coulda been really careful....

I wish I could help you more.

The shape and design look Mayan. But you may need to find a specialist to examine it. Precolumbian pottery is complicated, and has often been reproduced.
