Another Delfosse working in a similar style is certainly a possibility. It is quite a common name.
He was a wonderful artist, but this is not by him.

I definitely see 'Jas.' or 'Jav.' as the abbreviated first name of this Delfosse.

You guys are awesome! A big thank you to Mirana, Any Jewelry, Bronwen, Deborah, and Antiquefab, really appreciate all your help. I'll definitely be coming back to this site for help with future artwork! I think Joseph Delfosse makes a lot of sense, especially with him being Belgian, so I'm happy to see some other work by him to compare. I think I will keep the first etching, and re-frame it properly like you said Mirana.

The initials to my eye appear as MD,and also that the first name starts with Ma .With this in mind I suggest that the artist may be Georges Delfosses daughter Madeline [born 1909] and introduced to painting by her father, who also painted a lot of churches.I'm speculating here but maybe she signed it Mad Delfosse as the picture was small and maybe not enough room to put her full name.A lot of her work is watercolour, but some of her later work is signed with initials MD.. Apologies Any Jewelry but the initials IMO just don't add up to it being by Joseph Delfosse, any of his work that I have looked at is initialled with a J and D separate and not conjoined as in this case. I appreciate all the time and effort that all involved have given to try to find the artist, but maybe someone will come up with new information which will unequivocally say which Delfosse actually is the artist.

The monogram signature is clearly MD. But Madeline Delfosse doesn't seem to have worked at the same level of artistry.

It would appear that she was an accomplished artist.

Canadian. Signed her works with her full name.

Thanks for showing an example, I agree, not the same level of artistry. Looks amateurish to me.

That's alright, I left the option open that it could be another Delfosse anyway.;)
I must confess, I concentrated on the signed name, and didn't see the initials on the lower left of the etching itself.

Did you take the hermit/faun/girl one out of its frame? I'd be fascinated to know if there's a watermark in the paper.
