AF's expression was a variation on the more common UK expression "made by a man in a shed", for clearly home made (or shed made). There are several variations.

Made some new pictures of the makers mark. I dont have high hopes but we will see:

 

It looks like a capital D to me, not a d. D M something?

 

Tried to tweak it, not a great result though. D M C?

 

I thought small 'd' or 'p' to the left and big 'A' in the middle
I m not good at trying to read these marks though

 

I only base it on the parts that are visible.
Could you clean it with a cocktailstick ad take another photo please?
