Is that a compact from The Stork Club or just a powder puff?

I, too, am old enough to be of the time when we fixed things. If I got a run in my stockings, I stopped it with clear nail polish. Fortunately, I am now a retiree in FL and don't wear stocking. Heck, I don't even wear shoes most of the time.

@Debora, it is just a powder puff in its original cellophane package and with its original box.

I also used the clear nail polish trick. Haven't worn hose in more years than I care to admit.

Sorry... Hard to stop. The asymmetric heart-shaped compact and soap should be Elsa Peretti for Halston.

It was very fine silk thread for mending your stockings. I can also recall there used to be dry cleaners who’d have a woman who could mend them, too, using a specialist machine.

I used to buy Pavilion in America, I think the layering idea must have passed me by!

I did the same thing. Since I wear only compression stockings these days I don't have to think about pantyhose. Those things were torture.

I bought these 26 pieces for $24....really love the chest because these pieces have not tarnished. I especially like grille sets with the longer forks. I posted on the silver forum for help with pattern ID.

Went back to the charity sale at the church today for the bag sale. $10/bag, but contractor lawn and leaf bags. Anything you could fit other than jewelry went in. Spent my $10 and came home with all of the quilt fabric, a cashmere sweater for my sister, a Snoopy soccer mug for my BiL, a few small Christmas presents and Boeing Aerospace clothes. WHY I bought those... blame @Ownedbybear ! Stopped in an antique store on my way home and shouldn't have.

Probably made in China:smuggrin::smuggrin::smuggrin: - for my sister since it's too small for me, and I'm allergic anyway. There were a few, but one had a stain and a mothhole and the other was pilled. Since I'm not dumb enough to quilt cashmere any more I left them alone.

I can see why you like the Vietnamese lady. She wouldn't be something I'd hang, but she's got a look.
