IMG_2572.jpeg IMG_2571.jpeg IMG_2575.jpeg IMG_2574.jpeg IMG_2574.jpeg IMG_2573.jpeg IMG_2577.jpeg As you might already know, I m a bit crazy about old Flemish jewelry. When I found this odd Croix a la Jeanette for a steal online, I had to have it.
It came from the Netherlands and its silver with pearls and small garnets (I think). Usually, these silver jewels were made with foil back rose-or table cut diamonds or diamond chips (senailles). So you can see my excitement when I found this one. The pearls and stones seem to be all original. The back is a bit unusual to me so maybe it was a later version of these crosses? Or maybe someone commissioned it like this?
I need your help with the marks though. I read '830' and something that looks like maybe 'AG'?
Has anyone an idea about these marks?
Last picture is all my 3-part 'Jeanettekes' naast elkaar.

"naast elkaar" = "next to each other". :) (I lived in Leiden for 2 years in the 1980s). Not familiar with the maker, but these are spectacular!

Assuming only the latest find has those marks on the back. I see 830 as well, hard to make out the stamp..a G and A intertwined as suggested?? A blind guess would say they were all from the same era, the latest one seems to have similar high quality.

Awesome find to add to your collection.

    Lucille, heel goed zeg!:D
Yes, the latest one also is high quality. Flemish jewelry seldom has marks, and my two other crosses also have no markings whatsoever.
The 'normal' Croix a la Jeanette are 19th century.
Thank you very much for your opinion!

Old as the dickens is all I know. That and they're NICE. We never see them here, but if I do you can bet they're Hoard material, not Sell material.

Schôn Jeanettekes, as we say in Dutch Brabant.
You wouldn't believe it, but your latest Jeanetteke speaks with a German accent.:jawdrop:;)
I have a sølje style pendant by the same maker, made ca 1900. Scroll down this page for mine, and the next one with Cheryl's explanation:

Quite a surprise that my mystery German sølje maker also made jewellery in the Flemish style.
The coloured stones are a bit of a giveaway, both on my pendant and on your Jeanetteke.

AJ, amazing! Its exactly the same mark!
Its awsome to find out about these things.
I know Kyra s Parisian Diamond Company also made their own version of a Flemish heart without diamonds so this German firm must have also had the same idea with my Jeanetteke.
Get some old and popular design and make your own, albeit less expensive version of it.
I do remember this post though..,I have a brooch and pendant in the same style, which I already posted here, that might have been the same maker? :hilarious::facepalm::hilarious:

This is the Parisian Diamond company's version of a Vlaams Hart and a picture of an original 19th century one.
My own German maker brooch and pendant which could have been the same maker...(cant seem to find my own posts here)

My oldest daughter wants me to showcase only old Flemish jewelry together so I will keep my new, German Jeanette s origin a secret or it might have to sleep in a box alone according to her :wacky:

Maybe organize another box devoted to AG mystery jewellery?
Otherwise I would be happy to take it off your hands.:angelic::playful:

AJ, my daughter is very strict about it. Even French regional crosses or Georgian jewelry is not allowed to sit with the old Flemish.
I m still happy with 'pearly' and wearing it right now so its not going anywhere soon, sorry

Fiercely defending Flemish heritage, good on her.:smug:
As long as you're happy with it. It is een schoonheid. What strikes me is that even the back construction looks convincingly Flemish.

I also love to wear my faux sølje pendant. Whoever AG were, they made beautiful joolz.

IMG_2604.jpeg AJ, the back looks nice and well made, Old Flemish'backs look different though: all those flowers on the front are also flowers on the back...you can also see the pin where the 'diamantdop' is attached at the back... rhe craftsmenship is fantastic. I m a bit weird but I like those backs almost more than the fronts!
I have been known of wearing them backwards on purpose :hilarious:

I would love to find out who AG is! Maybe someday...
