    I'm good with emerald. Really does not look like glass. Pretty little piece you got yourself. :)

    I’m just not used to seeing an emerald:
    1. Cabochon
    2. With that much “junk” inside

    probably too many modern enhanced/stabilized????

    though I realize good facet cutting hides a lot, whereas a cab is what it is

    There are different qualities emerald, yours is very attractive but not top quality. It works on this pin though.

    Great pics, but to be able to see if it is an old mine cut or an old European cut we need to see the outer shape of the stone straight from above. (If that makes sense.)

    Old school single cut, more like. Especially given the size. I'd say absolutely no question that the stone is an emerald. The ones were used to seeing now have been fiddled with or a Chatham synthetic emeralds. The really included ones were cabbed in the old days. Or carved.
