    Hi,

Can anyone help me to find out the origin of this pot? On the bottom there is a strange symbol and signature of a devil playing the flute... Any information is much appreciated.

Very nice piece. Is that numbers or letters to the left of the mark? Right in the middle of the mark appears to be a name underlined.Leonard? I get a deco vibe off this.I think the mark is supposed to be Pan.

    Hi Johnny,

    Thank you for your reply

Those lines on the left side are not numbers from what I can make out. The name in the middle wasn't easy for me to read but you might be right with 'Leonard', although it's difficult to make out for sure. I agree with you that it looks very Art Déco but I never heard of Pan? Could you elaborate on that please? Thank you very much

    Kind regards
    David

Pan is a character from Greek mythology. A woodland god with some features of a goat, often shown playing a flute.

He was massively adopted in Britain, was Pan. Shows up in our literature from about the nineteenth century onwards, often with Herne.
