I recently acquired two sterlng silver flatware catalogs. I hope to sell both of them.
The first is a Whiting Sterling Silver Flat Ware Catalog. Its 9 1/2" by 13" and has 83 pages. There are only nine patterns in it. Questions - when was it printed? is it desirable? did Whiting only have nine patterns at the time?
The second is Reed & Barton #25 from 1903. It measures 7 1/4" by 12" and has 10 pages. The catalog is only for the La Perle pattern. There are 167 pieces listed with pictures of all of them. Attached to this catalog with a piece of string is the Price List to the Trade. It measures 4 1/2" by 7 3/4". It lists the cost of each of the 137 pieces - for sterling or gilt. Question - is this catalog desirable since it's only one pattern?

Oops I posted before I finished loading photos. Oh well, if you want the rest, just ask,

@DragonflyWink - I would think the queen of sterling reference material might have some insights into this question. ;):happy::happy:

I would say that even only one pattern......each item is identified for the period...

& u know when we get an old single item here... we can lose our minds over figuring out what it was for..

so, that information alone would seem to be valuable.....imo

Lily was first issued in 1902 and Violet in 1905. What are the other patterns in the catalog?

Thank you bakersgma. I'm confused about why they only included these 9 patterns.

Oh, it says it right in the page I scanned. These were their most popular patterns.

Any guess as to date of the catalog?

Given the spread, I would guess that these were the most popular patterns at the latest date - 1907? The bigger makers (like Whiting and R&B) kept making patterns (maybe even adding pieces) for a long time after a pattern was issued

The company took premises at the Broadway and 19th address in 1905.

Since the latest issue date for any of the patterns was 1907, it can't be earlier than that.
