Architectural feature? I’m sure someone will know based on the frame shape. I feel like I know and I’m just not hitting the right memory circuit. The style of eagle is fairly old if I’m not mistaken. Bannister possibly? Something near the ceiling on a column or whatnot? 16” long. Agreed. I forgot to mention I don’t own it. I might want to but the price is high. Figured I should find out what it is if possible before thinking about it more.

My searches are not yielding anything.

My imagination has it mounted high, as part of a larger ceremonial display with bunting, drapery hanging from the center.

It looks like the decorative bits are stamped metal. If so, they were probably available for any application.

They are stamped brass it looks like yes. The framing they are on seems to have an incredibly specific application though. More wondering what is going on as a whole.

Too much to throw around on this! I’m all for throwing money around if there is a decent chance I can recoup it but I don’t think it’s likely here. Usually I’d be up for whittiers advice but I’d have to know more here.

Yes, it could be the top of some kind of canopy.

This is called a bed crown, which is what the eagle frame 'thing' could be:

I'm not surprised that whoever is selling it doesn't know what it is, but had no problem putting what appears to be, an exorbitant price tag on it.

That’s a great recommendation. It looks smaller than that one but doesn’t mean that’s not what it is.

They know it’s old and worth having and are just taking a stab in the dark I guess.
