I have heard people say crows will do that to displace water but I didn’t know it was in Aesops fables. Maybe I knew and forgot. I wonder if it’s true or just fable? I was taking photos of some crows today. I’ve been seeing them chase a smaller hawk, falcon, or osprey around lately. The other day a guy that walks the same trail said he saw them tearing up the nest of another bird. Guessing it was the raptor I’ve been seeing. Rocks are the best thing to collect! Also seashells if you live near an ocean. Nature makes such an interesting variety and they're FREE. Or maybe a small price if you pick some up at the science center gift shop. :p I still have my childhood collection sprinkled about. I can't even get rid of the river rocks that came in some decor gifts from others.... Donated the things they came in. Kept the rocks. I don't even have anything for them yet....BUT I MIGHT LATER AND THEY'RE COOL. :hilarious:

I still have stones & shells acquired in my childhood, as well as many others. I was so upset as a kid when I learned that my mother had, without asking me, set a number of my favorite rocks in cement as a project for the art class she was taking on her way to becoming a kindergarten teacher. Claimed she thought I would be pleased.

I also pick up pine cones, acorns...

I picked up a single perfect pinecone on a walk with the husband in his hometown state park. He teased what was I going to do with it? No idea. I put it in the glovebox for safekeeping until we got home and of course I forgot it. It rolled out and attacked the next time we went in the glovebox to get something! We couldn't stop laughing and decided it had to stay as our defense against car thieves.

Sold the car. Kept the pinecone. Put it in the new car. :hilarious:

Yesterday the husband said I should ask people if they want to see my "shell collection" and then show them my cameos. He gets me.

I can imagine the momentary horror & then the insane laughter when you realized what it was. If only pine cones were the worst things attacking in this world.

Some years ago I nearly shrieked in fear when I got up one morning & saw something dark & hairy in the cat's water bowl. Then had to laugh in relief when I realized what it was. I was boarding a friend's shy cat. That first night Lily kept to herself. But sometime overnight she took an unused scouring pad off the kitchen counter & put it in her water. The blue soap had soaked off & the pad expanded to look like some loathsome fungus.

I picked up a couple of leaves on Sunday. One big yellow oak leaf blew right into my open trunk. I took the hint and took it inside when I came home. I'll toss it when it curls up.
