image.jpg I found this sterling rosary at the thrift store, only $4.00.
It was mixed in with costume jewelry and everyone was passing it by.

It is sterling with purple glass beads. The beads are well worn and the jump ring on the cross is thinning, so it's been handled quite a bit. As you can see, it is inscribed "Yolie Hebert"

I was wondering if anyone can put an age on it.
    Thanks to everyone in advance!

I’d suspect twenties or earlier. It’s really well made.

    Not Poughkeepsie?
Seriously though, it isn't even a beautiful sounding name. I can understand naming a girl Chelsea (neighbourhood in London), but Middleburg?

Looking at the names that celebrities use these days for their kids, not too bad.

Middleburg needs an H like Pittsburgh. Then it would have more panache!

Some rosary centerpieces represent the church or holy location. I had one from Lourdes that had holy water inside the beads and the centerpiece was a small image of the Virgin of Lourdes. This might have been from a location dedicated to the Sacred Heart.

Could be, but nearly all rosaries have the Sacred Heart above the chain with the cross. It is a Catholic thing.;)

That is a wonderful rosary & you got it for an even more wonderful price!!:happy:

I don't think I have ever seen one with purple beads & those end caps on each bead I don't think are very common either.

What a beautiful way to photograph jewelry... on a pretty vintage plate!

I still haven't gotten over "Blanket" (child of Michael Jackson) and "Apple" (child of Gwyneth Paltrow).

Blanket was a nickname, given because Michael often covered his head with a blanket to keep the photographers from getting a shot. Apple isn't horrible. I had a great-uncle named Elmer; admittedly he predated the glue but I'd rather Apple than to be named for a cow! Worse, one of grandma's best friends was named Elsie, for real. They were all born in the 1890s and Victorian names ..yeahwell.

In some parts of the US, a girl named Middleburg wouldn't have been too unusual in times past. A kid would be given Mom's maiden name as a middle name, and if Mom had the same first name or an auntie did there ya' go. Now they're just skipping the vanilla first name.

Beyonce has her mom's maiden name.
I bet there are going to be a whole lot of babies being named Taylor.
