    Dating Chinese iron-red enamelled jar vase

    Any ideas? 1940? Or earlier?

    Ditto. Nice one though, but incomplete.
    The mark is one of the apocryphal Qianlong marks.
    Probably around the same age as the one Bakers posted, only this one has white characters on an iron red background, like a negative of the more common positive marks.

    You're right, an apocryphal Jiaqing mark.
    Most are Qianlong, so I was working on autopilot.;)
