I purchased one year ago thinking it might be linked to the civil war but all I have is just the fact that is 900 or coin silver, it's not a brooch but something that holds a sachet or some kind of military item , it resembles a Dixie rose or Confederate ROSE BUT found nothing that matches. The most appealing MARK is the cs mark that I have seen in military ITEMS but not on silver nor jewelry.
It has some WRITTING but also not able to match to anything.
Any ideas or really just a big heavy pin. It dates from decades after the Civil War. The CS mark is a manufacturer's mark.
The Confederate rose looks different, btw.

Aznathalie for the win! It may well have been made for sale down South, but it's post-Civil War.
