I understand what you’re saying but know from experience that fakes that are not literally taken out of the market can, in the future, end up back in the market. Most around here know that I am always on a rampage against the use of counterfeits and while I realize that I cannot convert the world, I will continue to try. There is no justification for wearing a fake watch as any $20 watch will tell the time and today most people carry a phone. All a fake does is to try and claim false status.

I am not trying to claim false status as I can tell you without a doubt I know my place :hilarious:.
I don’t even wear it. It hangs in my office and tells me the time where it will stay until it ceases to work at which point it will be destroyed. If I destroy it before it has ceased to work I just have to go and buy another one which adds to the mountain of throwaway landfill.
    Making it is a crime.
    Buying it is a crime.
Selling it on is a crime.
Owning it isn’t a crime (in the UK at the moment).
Believe me, when it’s time comes it WILL be destroyed.

Thanks. I will always remember a couple of pieces of fake designer luggage that an auction house wanted us to include with the real stuff. They only saw it as we hadn’t destroyed them before they came to appraise the estate. We refused and destroyed them as they would have gone right back into circulation otherwise. Couldn’t believe that my mother had even bought them as all the other pieces were genuine.

Maybe she bought them thinking they were the real thing?. I imagine easily done as some of these fakers are artists at what they do. Very naughty of an auction house to want to include them as they should be squeaky clean.
I fully understand, respect and admire your stand on this. It does damage the brands as these days I wouldn’t even consider buying Tiffany jewellery as if I wanted to sell it on it’s a minefield as people are leary of buying when so much of what’s out there is fake even with documentation.

So true! No my mother would have known they were fake and probably bought them at the Paris Flea. Have to admit they were pretty real looking. We never discussed it as I didn’t know she owned them until after she was gone but I know that her headset was probably “Everyone will assume they’re real if I’m wearing them” which is the absolute problematic issue of why fakes are as rampant among those that can afford the real item as among those that can’t. Agree it was awful that the auction house wanted them although they would have disclosed them as faux but that didn’t make them any less illegal to sell.

I’ve done a lot of research on luxury counterfeiting and the facts and conditions are enough to appall even the toughest.

Tiffany is one of the most highly counterfeited labels of all. I wouldn’t touch it on the secondary market as I’m not expert enough. I just put a ding in one of my cuffs and brought it to Tiffany yesterday for a repair estimate. G-d only knows what they’ll charge me-waiting to hear. The SA went over the piece with a loupe before taking it in.

I imagine they see fakes brought in every day and even they have to double check some pieces. Unless I was buying direct from the store I wouldn’t even consider it. I’ve got a few pairs of earrings that came in in job lots that even have the butterfly backs stamped the fakers have gone to that much trouble. No, those aren’t going anywhere either!

Well not to add fuel to the fire but it looks to be a fake. The band is at least. Possibly the face and workings are real but I have not opened it up yet.

No fuel to the fire but if it isn’t solid gold it’s fake.
