Help with very long 67 inch Primitive Tool?! Loggerhead?

    Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help with this large iron tool? I'm just not sure what it is or what it was used for? Measures 67 inches and weighs 8 pounds. Has a solid ball on the end and a long handle on the other. Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    Is the end on the ground open or solid? If open what shape is the opening?

    There is no opening on the end but it does feel like it may be hollow inside the handle end. Maybe the opening was closed off somehow over time?
