?

does anyone have any idea about the age of this lamp? It seems to be brass, except the base and top

Can't see too much from your small pic. Looks to be a swing-arm colonial inspired floor lamp. Very popular post-WWII. Would have had some kind of shade. Would have been a fabric clip-on shade or, maybe, some kind of chimney with shade to mimic an oil lamp. Can't see if your fixture is configured for a chimney or not.

Take another pic without all that other stuff behind it.

That lamp looks like it could be part of the cupboard :)

Tweaked it a bit for you, but the photo is blurry. And size matters.;)

    Welcome LS51!
BTW, you don't have to use the poll when posting, if you don't want to. Just leave all that bit blank.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Welcome, @LS51 . Yes, new photo or two would be helpful. Also, can you tell us where you acquired the lamp and in which country you are located?

Also, are there any marks on it? Please also show the plug.

I'm attaching new pictures. I can't find any markings. It's been passed down in the family-I don't know how long. I thought it was all brass, but I had to clean them after a fire, and I think they are two different metals. I'm attaching new pictures-sorry about the first one. The plug is a sideways one, and the cord has been spliced into round cloth wrapped wiring. I'm in the US. lamp.jpg lamp 2.jpg Lamp 3.jpg

Much better pictures. Might be just a tad earlier than I thought. Probably sometime in the 30s to early 40s. Looks like it might not actually swing so maybe you could call it off-set.

This is the closest I could find. They are saying 40s. Yours may be just a bit older. Shows you the type of shade it might have had.
