Featured Hand painted portrait brooch

    Another smash and grab from today. I have found similar things online but the way the pin is soldered to the back looks pretty crude.

    Quite possibly. I have a feeling that something has been altered somewhere in its history.

    It is very likely that it had a frame. It looks like a double marriage, the hinge/pin doesn't seem to be original to the back either.

    Still, a cute subject, an Italian country boy (shepherd boy?). These mass produced porcelain plaques for jewellery generally date from the late 19th-early 20th century.

    It is a sweet subject. The one in the eBay link is the same though of somewhat higher quality.
