Featured Austrian vase, this is Nouveau right?

    This was a Goodwill impulse item i couldn't leave it there for $3.00 USD
    It is 10" tall and in perfect condition.
    Oscar & Edgar Gutherz green mark dates 1889 to 1918
    So is it or isn't it, I thought nouveau?

    I think not. More secessionist to my eye, though that is maybe not quite right either. The lines between Nouveau, arts and crafts, secessionist, and deco blur over time. Might even call this a transitional deco design. Think this was probably done by a hobby painter.

    So transitional sounds about right.
    So you thinking 1910 to 1918?
    Nouveau era was 1890 - 1910 ish.

    Ditto.
    The dome on the Vienna Secession building has a similar close grouping/stacking of floral motifs, only the dome has leaves only, rather than flowers and leaves. That type of close grouping is one of the Secession design themes.
