Featured Help with mark on cat and dog candle holders

Today’s car boot sale find was this lovely pair of six inch tall candle holders in the form of a cat and a dog. I suspect that they might be French but can’t find the distinct mark which is moulded into the base. They have a majolica like tan glaze with a few touches of turquoise.

Does anyone recognise them or the mark?

 

The thought occurs that they could be oil and vinegar bottles perhaps as there is no stop in the neck for a candle to sit in.

 

Someone had a lot of fun making them, they're delightful.

I think southeast Asia -- which country, I dunno!

 

They might be aquamaniles . Still haven't found anything like them or the mark.
