Which reminds me of the reason the Russian word for railway station is what it is.

 

Google says: zheleznodorozhnaya stantsiya
I would say: dinges.

If you scroll down the page there is another explanation for the origin of the word voksal: The German word Volkssaal. I guess it's one of those words that will keep etymologists researching for years to come.

Anyway, "voksal" is a lot easier to remember than "zheleznodorozhnaya stantsiya".

 

There is a brooch from the same maker on WP. Similar, but yours is more desireable in my opinion.

Can be used as ‘What in the flippedydoodah is that?’ Or as a mild curse when I’ve done something daft.

 

Flapdoodle also gets used in similar circumstances. I got one of my few negs on eBay for using "drat" in a message. A Victorian expression considered suitable for ladies...really? Yep, really.
