Featured Antique Metal Buttons - are these cut steels on them?

I am in the process of listing these buttons. They are two piece, and measure about 1 1/4' across. I have been concentrating on the floral decorations on the front, and I just noticed that the decorative circle around the flowers look like they may be painted cut steels. Except it looks like one has been moved aside on one button. A one piece decorative piece of metal made to look like cut steels? What do you think?

Have you tried a magnet on the front?
Yes, it slipped to one side. Can you push it back in place? If not, it could have been made like this, accidentally (monday morning;)).

    pearlsnblume and sabre123 like this.

They look like little bits of pyrite instead of cut steel.

Well now I can't get to them because I had a party on Sunday and I had DH move all 5 or 10 thousand of my buttons back down to the basement.

They may be seen again in a year or two.

I must confess, I see neither. I see something that is meant to look like twisted wire decorations, a bit like mock filigree.

I think the black was added after the bits were applied, thoroughly confusing the issue.
