I have no idea. Apparently she has a following. I saw a lot of stuff she just plain passed on, stupidly, that I'd have snatched right behind her. Either she's making a pile on the Youtube videos and doesn't care, or her "fans" are willing to pay more than the going rate because she sold it. The latter does happen. Now if only if had happened to me, I'd still be in the business!

BTW, what was that metal thing she found on the bar cart & was so enamored with? Just a huge desk toy? Or something functional?

Thank you, Bosko! I am a fan of Bob Dylan, too, although my main passion is related to hard rock (sweet old days :))) It used to be a big deal here, and also could have brought you into trouble with authorities, so it was done in secret. Listening to American music was illegal as it was considered an indication that the person (who did it) had yielded to "retrograde Western influence". Cold War times.

    True, true

Yes, Schlieman was more of a treasure hunter rather than an archaeologist, he lacked knowledge and skills to excavate ancient artefacts and rightly attribute them. I also have read about "the treasure of Helen" which was proven by scientist to be much older than the Iliad events. Besides, there is no logic to find Helen's jewellery under the ruins of Troy which was ravaged and looted, and destroyed, and nothing valuable was left there. Also according to Iliad, Menelaus took back Helen, and most probably with her jewellery, and also with many other treasures, including living creatures taken as slaves. So it was much more logical to search for Helen's chest of jewellery in Sparta.

I watch her vlogs regularly. I KNOW she has a lot to learn but she has been in the biz probably about 30 years, really! She used to have a shop in Hudson Valley area of New York and had high-end clientele. Of course, many of them knew far less than she did! She has her devotees who overpay for what she purchases. It's interesting to me because she will often reveal the prices she paid for things in her purchase video and she clearly gets much more when shr offers them for sale a few days later.

I have learned a bit from her but I more often shake my head at the newer things that get her excited. She has a habit of comparing unknown/new stuff to better costume jewelry makers from the past. Too much knowledge and yet not applied at the right time. I believe a lot of her audience likes the friendly vibe of her show and they are in positions to overpay for non-remarkable items. She's now learning about home decor and such and jumping in whole-hog there. Should be some real entertainment.

I think a lot of YouTube Stars get a following based more on showmanship & personality than actual knowledge.I know next to nothing about jewelry, but obviously the majority of our experienced Joolies are flabbergasted by the mediocrity of what she picks, and more importantly-what she doesn't !
PS-and the prices she seems to get.

I sometimes watch her videos. Sometimes I learn something from her but I m usually in awe of the prices she buys and sells items for!
Another one I watch is Funky Pickle thrifter.
That lady is a bit more 'aimable'. Again, its mostly just for fun but every now and then you (well, at least I) learn something new.
I love the lady's mom! She s adorable

I learn a lot more on the boards than from those Youtubers, generally. They often know more about collecting views than antiques.

True-I think some of them have found a lucrative way to fund their habit, and if they make enough-write some of it off !
I was born in another dimension frm these 'Influencers',and the great thing (for them),you probably can't sue 'em for your gullible stupidity.

KSW-I think people who have to give their YouTube fan base something to watch fork out that kind of tax-deductible cash.Maybe they've got some kind of arrangement w/ the stores where they can return the merch for a refund minus a 10-20% handling fee ?

They can always re-donate it later for the tax deduction.
