    This is a Youtuber I watch sometimes. She's into paper primarily, but found this wooden piece in a box lot. I figured one of us would recognize it. The lady is probably Ceres or similar, she's carrying wheat, and my hunch is it's not ancient but....?

    She is a saint, with that cross in her left arm. From a chapel or so. Certainly antique, maybe 18th century. (Can't think right now.:wacky:)

    18th century Saint...that's what I was wondering. She looked old, but no wormholes. If she's Dutch that might not have meant anything. Saint Lucy???? (Lucia?)

    She doesn't make it easy to see things, but her 'stones' - pretty sure they're glass - I think are copies of gnostic gems, some of them with Abraxas/Abrasax on them. Sounds like she was also seeing the inscription IAW (iota alpha omega), which was a way of writing Jahweh & often found on the reverse of mystical gems.

    The label on the Flemish carving suggests the writer understood the figure to be allegorical, but the cross points to a saint.

    I agree. I'm old, but no wormholes.:smug::hilarious:
    She is very fidgety with the things she's trying to show, I also noticed that with the woman in the video bosko posted. They like to show their stuff, but have no idea how to work with the concepts of video and viewers.
    I didn't look any further than the statue though.

    I didn't know what those stones were either, but knew they were copies of SOMETHING. Renee/paperandmoose doesn't "do" antiques mostly, unless the're paper. Paper is flat, so I doubt she really knows how to display 3-d items.

    I don't know if you are going to be contacting her, but, for all of us, from the British Museum's description of an engraved gem:

    • Inscription script: Greek
    • Inscription content: Ι Α ω
    • Inscription transliteration: I A O
    • Inscription note: Iota Alpha Omega (Greek version of the Hebrew Tetragrammaton of the divine name)

    She spends too much time just sitting there yakking and doesn't do a good job of showing details of the items.

    Are you sure it's a woman? We've been visiting Belgium for over 30 years and there are many statues like this in churches that have no woodworm and are several hundred years old.

    Not a clue. I know precisely as much as you do. She's not an antique person, unless it's made of paper.
