    I need help identifying origin and other info for this Papua New Guinea old headdress

    It may be an (incomplete) headdress from Vanuatu, of a type used in "tamate" dances that honor the dead. They are constructed on such domed frameworks, made of split bamboo, and surmounted by a variety of effigy figures. Here are some photos showing them in use, taken from an article by Bernard Vienne: Masked Faces from the Country of the Dead; published in Arts of Vanuatu, University of Hawai’i Press, 1996.
