Recently bought this intriguing ornament at my local charity shop. Sticker is "Capodimonte, Made in Italy" but I've googled capodimonte for any history ie date of manufactor etc but nothing comes up. 1 article states all capodimonte pieces are signed by the artist if no capodimonte sign is present. Its quite a detailed piece of pottery. Any capodimonte experts out there that can shed any information regarding whether this is or isn't a capodimonte ornament. Many thanks in advance.

All a bit of a grey area. This article should clear it up for you a little. It's highly unlikely it's a true original capodimonte made at the royal factory. The quality isn't there. There were many spin offs due to lack of trademark protection and some of these are still highly regarded due to the high quality of them. A lot of lower end stuff has been produced also.

Edit: a photo of the underside would be helpful.

Thanks for your reply. I have uploaded a couple more photos. Can anyone see a blurred writing on the edge in the last photo? . The photo of the underneath with the whole in it, seem to have P.A but my husband thinks its my eyes making me believe theres lettering as he couldnt see any.

I'm no expert but guessing 70's or 80's produced for retail market. There was lots of this stuff produced.
