Fun time at the auction where I purchased this box lot!

While seeing the lot in person is, admittedly, much better than a photo on a screen, most of you picked the correct items.

    1) I noticed the candle holders right off. Almost no one at the auction did! They were all looking at the bottom for a mark. The silver marks are on the side.

    2) The "thimble" is sterling silver. I didn't notice the mark until much later (I "preview" the same items multiple times). It's actually a jigger or a shot glass size. Everyone knew what this was.

    3) The asparagus server fooled EVERYONE. Including myself. It wasn't until after I got home that I found the 800 mark on the curved part of the body. Happiness reigned!

I paid $110 for the lot. That includes auction commission. The candle holders weigh a nice 15 ounces.

..... so everything else was plated? Any marks at all on the brush?

I rarely (as in almost never) find sterling anymore, even the most comatose Thrift & Estate employees check for that, and either report it or stuff it down their mumu.
I did get lucky a few months ago-but very rare. From what I can recall Mr.Nate puts a lot of work & knowledge into his 'lucky' finds.

Well done! Those candlesticks look quite nice. Could we see a better photo of them and the marks? I know asparagus tongs sell pretty well, not sure on that type of serving piece. Hoping you’ll sell them as items not as melt! The thimble cups so well I think.

I bought about $550 melt value worth of silver for $250 a couple days ago. Included was a sweet but small G. Jensen sauce ladle, nice .800 candy size bowl, 2 NA made souvenir spoons, and about 30 other silver souvenir spoons. The other stuff was fairly forgettable. That price also included about 25 plated souvenir spoons.

Also got about a dozen absolutely loaded charm bracelets recently for a bit under melt. That was a nice score I think. I don’t have the patience to sell them charm by charm. That would probably be the most profitable route. I should do ok either way though. They sell for less than they seem like they should (to me) often but long tail I think they’ll move at an ok price.
