This is in absolutely perfect condition. I'm thinking maybe early 20th Bohemian?

Wouldn't it just. It is the most purple of purples and stunning quality. I found some Russian decanters with a similar cut and colour which has me thinking.....

It's awfully deep for neodymium glass, but I'd run it under a fluorescent bulb just to be sure. Hit it with a blacklight too, for giggles. With any luck it glows!

That is one gorgeous bottle!!

I don't think I have ever seen one that is such a deep shade of purple.

The bottom seems to have noticeable wear so definitely not a recent piece.

I'll see if I can find anything in any of my books.

 

I asked another member of the IPBA to look in on the post & while she too was very enamored by the bottle for its design as well as its color she said she could not add any more information.

She did send a message to a member of the UK branch of the IPBA to see if she knew anything but got no further information.

If it is taking up too much room in the hoarde you can throw it in a box & ship it off across the pond. I think I can move a bottle or two a scooch to the left to make room for this one.

 

Thanks Peggy, really appreciate you digging around. It’s got good honest wear on the base, and also round the neck. Someone used it and loved it.

I bought it thinking it might go to the friend I pick for. She came round today. It’s still in the house, much to her annoyance!

don’t normally keep scent bottles, but this one’s special.

 

it just dawned on me that this is most likely boston sandwich glass - for me at least its the deeeeeeep color - i have sold a few apothecary jars in this color - they always turned out to be BS

I agree that the color is just scrumptious so it would never leave my house either!!!

I just checked Facebook & there is a Boston Sandwich glass collector's group there. It is a private group but maybe you can inquire with them.
