    Hello,

I am a UK-based woodcarver, and for years I have wanted to work with the king of woods; Lignum Vitae. Unfortunately, it is illegal to buy and sell modern Lignum Vitae, as the trees it comes from are endangered, so the only samples on the market are antique. I do not wish to ruin an intact treasure for my silly little whim, but no auction sites I have found sell any damaged pieces. So, I have come here, to see if anyone has/knows of anyone who has any damaged pieces they are willing to sell me which I may turn into a blade handle.

    Thank you for your consideration.

Try to find someone who is restoring a historic ship or a windmill.
The pulleys on old ships, as well as the main bearing of a (Dutch) windmill were made of lignum vitae.
To broaden your search, the Dutch word for lignum vitae is "pokhout".
