Old Copper or Bronze Bells For What?

    Any they have a lovely sound! The larger bell is about 3 inches and the smaller are 2 inches. Overall length is about 17.5 inches. What were they used for? I don't understand how they would attach to something? Seems like a stand-alone item? I get so confused, sometimes!

    Believe the proper name for bells are Crotal Bells,and we're associated with horses and horse drawn vehicles to alert other road users and other horse drawn vehicles of their presence.This was before the introduction of motorised vehicles. Crotal Bells date back to pre medieval times when they were made from bronze as opposed to the copper variety like yours.
