Featured Threaded Wooden Cone; Mystery Tool, Please Help?

It's a rare thing for me to be unable to identify a hand tool...but this has me stumped. I will offer, as guesses: 1) a percussive musical instrument, perhaps used with some other item; 2) for use in the fiber arts.

An image search in Google offers 'toys' & 'mouth-opener'; the toys have holes in the big end, the mouth-openers have some form of handle or grip on the big end; neither are present here. I have low confidence in any of those possibilities.
It's 5 1/8" long, ~1/2" to ~1 1/2" diameter, 6 TPI, ~53 grams.

I think it's only a piece of something else. Screw-threaded stopper for...something?

These are identified as a type of fid/marlin spike, apparently with an interchangeable handle, but I am not sure how it works or if the ID is accurate.

If that hadn't been on an official AF site, the description would be suspect, in my (limited) experience. But it would do the job, for an inflatable raft.
Problem is, each hole would need two of them; entry an' exit holes. Then, that's only one hole...there may be some (many?) more. I'll posit that their use was temporary, until a proper patch were applied to the hole...just long enough to keep most of the air within the raft. I'm pretty sure the rafts had a patch kit as standard equipment, an' it would take up a lot less cube an' weight than high multiples of threaded plugs.

It'd be an interesting research project to determine how many of these plugs were in each raft kit.
