1 quid raid from the car boot this morning. This jug has that boy in the window feel about it. I'm guessing it is pre 1850 Staffordshire chinoiserie. It stands at 11cm tall.

It is lovely, Chin. Very vibrant colours, so certainly English imo. Not my forte though.

Yeah. I've found a fair few very similar but none exactly the same.

This is the early version of "cheap and cheerful." A pretty thing nonetheless.

Well, before you get too disheartened, I saw a post on another forum which was about a similar-looking design and someone there suggested Hilditch, a factory about which I know next to nothing. :D

One similar one I saw on line was hilditch and it does have that look. They were only operating for a few years in the first half of 19th c. I come across a fair few of their cups and saucers, and they dont fetch a massive amount. They are bright and colourful though and represent that English attempt at chinoiserie that I do like. Quite often they have red outline coloured in which this doesn't. And that's about all I know.

Another similar one was attributed to aynsley.

Well, I do know Aynsley as much of their output came to Canada! If it was early Aynsley, there would likely be an impressed mark on the base. You know what they say: collect what you like! And I like what you collected!
