Featured What is this straw stuffed animal?

Hey, not sure what this old animal is, leather paws, metal button eyes, hand stitched and looks like lambs wool coat. My guess: polar bear guess circa 1900-1920. No marks, but a metal loop on one back leg. Maker, age and animal? Measures approx 7" tall x 10" long.

I dunno if it's a polar bear or just a bear standing on all fours.

polar bears are low at the front shoulders...and have elongated snouts...

@trip98, yours looks like he's gone a LOT of MILES!! Can you show or did I just miss the metal loop on one back leg? And he does pretty much look like an early Polar bear....I think!! Can you add the size too? Thanks!!

7" high x 10" nothing I can see on the metal and leather band metal strip I think was for engraving.

 

OOOOH, how about a Koala Bear.....kind of the right shape!!

 

Look at this Steiff cat , found this on ebay. I think the metal loop is left over from when it was a wheel toy.

 

He's extremely cute! And I vote Polar Bear also.

 

The head sort of looks like your animal, but the ears are different and yours is more furry. Still, who knows?

 

They do look a bit similar, posted the photo to show the metal loop attached to the back leg that looks a lot like the loop (pushed in a bit) in the back of my "bear". The faces are close, but shorter tail and different fur. would be great if it was an old Steiff, but I am not convinced.
