It has been a while since i have posted anything on this board so please bare with me. I did a little research on the company. they only deal in fine metals and precious stones. i have seen other skulls like this one but with other stones. i was wondering if this is made of crystal, And didn't know crystal was actually a stone?
The silver is marked Charles Albert, Fine sterling silver.

There's a wonderful piece of carved rock crystal in the V&A or British Museum, can't recall which off hand. It was thought to be a blown glass 19th C jug, then found to be Middle Eastern, something like 9th C, carved rock crystal. Clear as clear.

The good stuff can look like that. If it's Fine Silver, aka .999 silver, quartz is pretty much a given. They generally don't use specialty metals like that on glass. The easiest way to find out for sure is in a pawn shop that has a gem tester. Quartz comes up as a 7 or 7.5 on the Mohs scale. Glass comes up as "glass".

If in doubt, look it over very carefully and make sure there are no bubbles in it, if there are, it's glass. Also you can find someone with a gem tester to tell if it's rock crystal or glass crystal.

There are 2 for sale at the following site, they call it quartz crystal :)

    Hi Mikey,
Glad to see you posting again. We have missed you. I have a completely clear arrowhead that I thought was glass, found it years ago. Had it tested and shows up as rock crystal. Thought I knew glass from quartz you never know for sure.

Scored! Tested as crystal. I feel guilty now buying it off the 2 dollar table. It will pass though.

I got some sterling tableware for about 1/4 melt on Friday. Took about an hour for the guilt to wear off. :) You didn't know and they didn't know, so no one got taken. I knew, but figure if the family had cared they'd have sold it for more.

Things like this are learning experiences and no guilt should be involved! You could easily have bought a glass piece :)
