Hello, I am wondering if anyone might know anything about this doll. It has a hand written note on the underside but I haven’t been able to find much on it. Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

A costume doll wearing traditional dress from the Philippines. Not antique. Likely dates to 1972 as indicated. She's quite pretty. The facial features of many dolls from Spain and former Spanish colonies in this era were based on Jackie Kennedy who was greatly admired.

Here's a Filipina Barbie in something similar (but not nearly as nice.)

I agree. The "from about 1900's" bit on the label refers to the style of the historic costume the doll is wearing, not the date of the doll (or costume) itself.
She is charming, but not antique.

Another example. The ensemble is called a traje de mestiza or mestiza costume (among other things) because it reflects the mix of Spain and Philippine blood and culture. The upper garment or camisa is typically made of pineapple fiber or piña. That explains both its sheerness and its stiffness.

Is it just me or does she bear a resemblance to Maria Callas?
