Hello, New here and to actually acquiring antiques

I've always loved old things compared to modern. Everything I've ever gotten before came from family. I am 45 years old and just am ready to actually start acquiring things I want for myself. Getting a divorce. My wife didn't like anything old. So with that I'm interested in learning all I can with my new found freedom to do so. I picked up a piece from a clean out I did for a friend and would like to know if someone could tell me anything about it. I think it is a wash stand. I can't find any markings in it whatsoever. I can't figure out how to post a picture.
