Featured Four brooches

I scooped these four brooches today for less than a tenner.

Top left says 925 on the back but not convinced it's silver.

Top right was perhaps a mistake. It has some age but seems to be brass plated and a bit tacky.

Bottom left has 935 silver mark.

Bottom right is possibly marcasite perhaps. Not sure of what metal it is.

 

You have such a good eye. Those are charming.

 

The marcasite is pot metal and nothing wrong with that. The 925 might be rhodium plated, it can look a bit gloopy. I bet the 935 is Portuguese.

My Totem critters are Corvid, each an' every one.

The 935 one could be German, they also make lovely filigree and they used to use 935 quite a lot. They often mark with the fineness only, no national or assay marks.

I really like the this one. I would wear it but it doesn't quite go with my Jean's and tshirt dress code.

 

Jewellery goes with anything, and it is for men and women. I am currently wearing antique coral and 14k gold earrings with a T-shirt and old baggy jeans.
So go ahead, wear the brooch, you know you want to.

 

I pin them on denim jackets early and often. They work nicely to keep low-necked clothing from spilling the goods too.
