Featured Chinese bangles?

Hello, any experts in this field?
I got them for 50 cent each. They look old/vintage. How old could they be? Are they chinese?

 

Yes, Chinese cloisonné. They look mid-century, could be a little older. Gorgeous blue, but a pity about the bad condition, there is a lot of enamel loss/damage.

 

Late 20th century Chinese. The raised cloisonne flowers are pretty definitive.

 

They are only raised because the blue enamel around them is badly damaged. If you look at the undamaged parts, the flowers are flush with the blue enamel background.
Serious condition issues.

 

This is one of the bits where you can see that the flowers were originally flush with the blue enamel background. The sheen on the bit with the green leaves is also even, which shows that the surface is flush and smooth.



But even the parts with the original flush enamel are cracked.

 

I'd still say later rather than earlier; the coloring of the flowers and leaves are both newer too. They've been seriously beat up either way, poor things.

 

The later ones have those (hideous) twisted wire cloisons. This has the straight wire cloisons of the earlier pieces.

The twisted wire cloison jewellery does have that surface difference that you mentioned.

 

I've seen those too. Other than the occasional loose beads for messing with, I leave it on the table and keep walking.

 

I don't know what they were thinking when they started that twisted wire and sunken enamel fashion.

 

I've never seen a later one that was enameled on both sides.

Neither have I, there are the ones that have plain sky blue enamel on the inside, but not enamel with motifs.

 

It's called making it quicker and cheaper. I forgot; I've bought a few Christmas ornaments made that way, but they were literal pennies. Wouldn't pay more for the work.

 

I have two that are very similar and in good condition. I have had them on Ebay for several months now for a few quid and very little interest. Perhaps trying to sell cloisonne to the general public falls on deaf ears.

 

Or deaf eyes, as it were. The resale value on it isn't that great.

 

Agree, not much interest, even for pristine old ones.
There will be zilch interest for these broken ones.
