Thank you for adding me. I’ve had this table for over 45 years bought at a garage sale. Chairs didn’t come with the table. I’ve tried finding images of similar to get time frame possibly made. It’s a 5 legged table. IMG_1005.jpeg

Hello @PattiMom & welcome to the forum!!:happy:

We are going to need just a little more information from you. ;)

Look underneath the table to see if there are any labels or possibly a stamped mark as to who made the table. There might also be some numbers.

If you could post photos of what you find along with some full-image photos of the entire table that would be great.

I am also going to have this moved to the furniture section by one of our moderators.

No labels underneath but I think the top of the table might not be original. Legs have small wooden casters. IMG_1007.jpeg

My guess is that it wasn't very old when it was acquired 45 years ago.
But do wait for those with more expertise to chime in!
And please do respond with where in the world you are located, it helps narrow down the search.

It does look like it might have come from Indonesia. I also think it was new when you got it. 45 years would have put it around 1978 .Not so long ago really !

Purchased around that time was old already. The table was refinished in 1984.

that's the story u were told............. not necessarily factual !

Elder is a shrub...... good for magical wands.

Alder....is a hardwood , most often found in BC !

I see nothing to suggest this is not antique. Very early 20th century. Looks like ash but the legs are likely something else. Very well could be maple.

We did a terrible search last night for labels couldn’t find any. It was bought at an estate sale 1978. Furniture restoration company did some work on the table as was a gap on skirting when not extended and one end of center. Also fixed a leaf as crowning. As far as we can tell the top is one kind of wood, skirting another, legs a third. Small wooden casters on the legs.

Wooden casters generally mean pre-WWI in my experience. They were used to allow a woman to move furniture to clean under it.

The sliders or the board underneath legs are attached to? First pic is the sliders, 2nd top, 3rd under table, legs attached to and final pic is the underside of table top.

Thank you. The top is not same wood as skirting so was probably replaced at some point in time. Pics posted later of table top underside. Legs are very heavy and small wood casters make it wobbly.

Was from estate sale. Doesn’t look anything like furniture made in Indonesia.

Indonesia has turned out copies of every style of furniture for decades . I should have specified. I respect Brad's knowledge but I still think this isnt terribly old. Its okay to have differing opinions .
