Featured Help Me Identify My Roll Top Desk!

    Someone immigrated from England and brought it with them Id guess. They could have moved to your family's area then your family bought it. You all took wonderful care of it,it looks almost new. Beautiful piece.Sadly desks are undervalued right now,most "brown" furniture is.

    That's a beautiful cylinder desk. I love the blue leather inserts & burl/flame veneer drawers-worthy of Charles Dickens.
    PS- Be glad it's not an American Rolltop-those were worth something 40 years ago !

    It says V R Patent with what looks like a crown separating the letters V and R

    By & large Johnny's right abt 'Brown Furniture' now,your's seems to be a cut above most Sear Roebuck 1900's pieces.
    There are of course always exceptions but this style's generally the only brown stuff selling for good $ now- MCM TABLE.jpg

    Beautiful desk, SC, and welcome.
    Looks like Manniscum, so the name was probably Mann.

    Now I know why I never much liked roll top desks!

    This cylinder desk is a handsome piece of furniture!!!

    The cylinders w/ the bookcase on top have always attracted me-we see them occasionally here for fair prices,but no room left.
