Drexel Heritage Heirloom Chippendale Nightstands

Hi, I've been able to acquire a set of these lovely nightstands but one door is missing the doorknob and we can't find it anywhere.

Where can I buy original hardware for furniture like this? If there isn't anywhere to get it, how badly is value hurt when a similar but non original door pull is used?

 

having a set outweighs one replacement handle .......lost value would be minimal...

100 bucks off for a missing handle seems high.....

 

Ebay and Etsy are probably your best bet, but chances of finding those exact knobs are very low. I would search craigslist and Facebook for one of these nightstands for a low price. You could even search nationwide and if you find one cheap enough, offer them their asking price just for the hardware and have them ship it. A Drexel nightstand in this style, in poor condition can probably be found under $50. Or, if you can find a set of four that looks close in style, it would not affect value much.

 

For me, a piece having a non-matching (no matter how close) piece of hardware would be a deal-breaker. But I'm picky about that kind of stuff.

 

It would match, I would buy two sets of new hardware that was as similar in shape/appearance as possible. It just wouldn't be the originals.

 

If you match all the hardware on the set, I don't think lack of originals would matter. Just include the originals in a plastic bag or something for the sale.

Fantastic looking nightstand but 1980's+ Drexels are fairly common here in DFW. You'd probably find a complete similar nightstand for just over $100 in a local furniture store...

Don't think it matters much as long as all the hardware matches. Someone will be buying this for use. It really has no collectible value where originality would matter.

 

That's what I figured but the perfectionist in me always loves a true restoration. Oh well!
