This has been in the family for generations. Googled around and to my untrained eye it kinda looks like meiji silver. Hammered and with what seems to be so-called double walls. But the hallmark.. super small and seems obscured and hard to deciphre. But you tell me! Any help or clues will be appreciated! The bowl itself is 27 cm diametre. If its pure silver i dont know, but it certainly contains significant amounts of silver.) Mark.jpg Bowl.jpg

I think you nailed it. I found servingware today that kinda-sorta looked like silver. It was all restaurant silverplate from...taiwan and Japan.(sigh) At least of us hit something.

Remember learning about that design motif from Antique Road Show... Dragons chasing flaming pearl. Symbolizing the eternal pursuit of wisdom.

I thought the dragons chasing the Pearl were found more on Chinese things. Every once in a blue moon there’s a piece where the dragon actually get the Pearl. I had one once.

The raised silver work is found more on Japanese things though I believe. Wonderful looking bowl! You should post more photos of it!

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Not a clue about the mark.....just enhanced a bit and the green is inverted..... almost looks like it could be a 1942 date at the bottom where the red arrow is......or not.....

It is Buddhist in general, but found more in China, the Himalayas and Japan.
It never lasts long, because there are always other dragons around.;)

Thank your for that! Yes, that flaming pearl seems to have Chinese origins.

1942.. i see it. You have very good eyes Aquitaine! However consider how incredibly minute those digits are. The two hallmarks are approx 6x3 millimeters each. That means those digits in "1942" are perhaps 0.3 millimeters tall or less.
